Birthday Card for Hubby

Made this card for my hubby.  It’s his birthday today.  Happy Birthday, Sweetie!  J
 Inside:-

He really liked the pirate card I made for a friend’s BD, so it only seemed apropos to make him a “Buccaneer” BD card, too.

Had a ball making this card, adding all the cute li’l designs found on the Imagine Buccaneer cartridge.  I LOVE that cartridge.  Such vibrant pix.  Everything is pop-dotted but it doesn't really show up in the pix.  I tried to get side shots of it, but they turned out blurry.

Tools/Items:-
Cricut Imagine
Cricut Imagine Cartridge: – "Buccaneer"
Cricut Cartridge – "Simply Charmed"
Glue – ATG; Zig Two Way
Cardstock – red for the card base; white (for the Imagine)
Patterned paper
Corner rounder – Ticket Stub
Rhinstone - for the pirate chest
Pop dots

The entire card was created using the Imagine "Buccaneer" cartridge.  However, the sun w/ sunglasses was from the "Simply Charmed" cartridge.  Love the li’l octopus, wearing a pirate hat. J

I learned a li’l trick whilst  pop-dotting the sunglasses on the sun.  The white popdots were  too visible, so I colored them w/ a black BIC marker.

The sentiment was computer-generated.

Also made the 3-D pirate chest which is found on the Buccaneer cartridge.  It looks so realistic.   Filled it w/ gold doubloons.  Actually, they're chocolates.  LOL

Hope hubby likes it!  J

Comfort Card

Made this card for a friend’s sister, who is very ill.  Thought it might cheer her up a bit.

I had a lot of fun making this card, as I was learning different techniques, along the way.
The first technique was how to place an image in a different place, on your Imagine mat.   I saw a video, here, where it’s explained how this could be accomplished.

Here’s a shot (not very clear, sorry!) but you can sorta get an idea of how I was able to input just 4 blank squares on the mat, making my design move waaaaay over to the right.

When the paper is placed on the mat, opposite to how it was done to begin with, I was able to get the design printed on the opposite side of my card base.  Cool, eh?  J

The second technique on this card was learning how to print a sentiment on the inside of the card.  I now have a template I saved, to allow this to occur on any 5 ½” x 8 ½” card base.  I enjoy making larger size cards, instead of the usual A2 size. J

Tools/Items:-
Cricut Imagine
Cricut Imagine Cartridges: – see below
Cricut Cartridge – Christmas Noel
Glue – ATG; Zig Two-Way
Cardstock – blue for the card base; white (for the Imagine)
Patterned paper – sky background
Corner Rounder - Corner Stone by EK Success
Stickles – “Crystal
Rhinestones

Cricut Imagine Cartridges
Lori’s Garden
Better Together
Imagine More

Firstly, I used this design (bottom), from Imagine “Lori’s Garden”  for the flourish on the card front.

The Angel is from the “Christmas Noel” cartridge, using patterns & colors from the Imagine “Better Together” cartridge.

The frame is from the “Imagine More” cartridge (Image 25, Layer 1), floodfilled w/ the same pattern as the Angel’s dress.

Hope she likes it!  J

Latest Cricut Cartridge Check List – November 2011

Hiya.

Provocraft released 2 new cartridges:-
* Cricut Font and Basic Shapes; and
* Snow Day

Here's my latest checklist:-
Just to remind you that, when you click on the Cartridge name in the checklist you downloaded, it will link directly to the Cricut website, whereby you can see more info about the cartridge(s).  Even tho the Cartridge Library on the website hasn’t been updated, I had a “work-around” to obtain the link where the cart. is housed on the website. J
Also, be sure to check out this website:- http://cricutblog.org/ , where you’ll  find projects you can make w/ your new carts. J
For newbies to my Cartridge Checklist, here's what it looks like:-

Enjoy!!

Kina Grannis – “In Your Arms”

Saw this gal, Kina Grannis, on the Ellen show today.  Besides being the cutest li’l thing, she has this awesome video:-

A few more numbers:-  the project took 22 months, 1,357 hours, 30 people, two ladders and one still camera.
In the making of this video, Kina Grannis spends a lot of time lying down on top of glass, under which lies the jellybean scenery backdrop. According to director Greg Jardin, some frames would take five minutes to shoot, others three hours.

Check it out here:-

I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did, and over 2 million other viewers. J

Martha Stewart Scallop Snowflake Punch All Over the Page

Lookie what I just discovered.  Well, actually my hubby first discovered it, cuz he bought it for me, J but I then I discovered what this li’l gem could do.  J

These “Punch All Over the Page” punches aren’t new to me as I already have quite a few.  But this one is DIFFERENT in that you can now align the designs all in a row, w/out breaking a sweat.  J  Before, you were on your own trying to line it up properly so you could have a row of the designs.  No more.  Now the punch does all the work.  All you have to do is align your last punched design w/ the pictures on the base of the punch set.  WhooooHooooo!

Here’s the difference between the older punch sets and the newer ones:-

Here’s a sample I threw together, just to show how it lined up beautifully.

Thank you soooooo much Martha, for adding this feature to your newer stamp sets. I just LOVE it!!!!!   J

11-11-11 --- bringing hopes of good luck

Today is the 11th day of the 11th month of the year 2011. How cool is that, eh? :-) It's supposed to bring "good luck". Not to forget, too, that it's also Remembrance Day.

Do you plan on doing anything to mark the triple convergence of 11's w/ a splash? I'm thinkin' of buying 11 scratch tickets. :-)

Some kids who are celebrating their 11th birthday today, are super lucky. Or what about loved ones celebrating their 11th anniversaries?? :-)

Here's what one numerologist said:

"Eleven is a number of illumination and enlightenment, a number of insight, blinding flashes of the obvious, and a number of transformation.

I think just from that --- really good things will come out of today!! :-)

Please share w/ me --- what this day means to you!!!
