Here's a synopsis:-
June 9th and 10th, 2010. Visiting naval ships arrived in Victoria, BC Canada. Thirteen ships represented countries from the Indo-Pacific region, such as France, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, as well as the U.S. and, of course, Canada.
The 20 ships participating in Saturday's Fleet Review move from Esquimalt harbour to their anchorage spots off Colwood. . . . . .

Did you spot your Country's ship??
Everyone was totally in awe w/ the USS Ronald Reagan, it being the largest ship that took part in the Fleet Review. The ship is 333 metres long and has a crew of more than 5,000 sailors and 85 aircraft. Some of our News Reporters got to check it out in person and ride the aircraft elevator. They were totally mind-boggled by the whole experience.
June 11th, 2010, there was a "parade of Nations", down our Main Street. Later on, there was an evening firework's display.
June 12th, 2010, we had the famous Snowbirds perform their air show. They always put on an exciting air demonstration. Canadian Forces’ pilots and technicians thrill audience with their formations and tricks, getting up to speeds of 370 mph (590 km/h). In some formations, the jets get as close to each other as 1.2 m, demonstrating the supreme skill-level and precision of the pilots!
I didn’t get to see the air show this time (seen it many times, tho); however, on their way in to Victoria they flew, in their wonderful formation, right over our house. Poor li’l Bailey didn’t know what was going on. :-)

ReplyDeleteOh WOW this is amazing! I wish I could have seen it! My Dad was in the Navy for 30 yrs and remember going to see the Aircraft Carriers when I was a child. Some of the best memories of when I was a kid was down on the base. The USS Ronald Reagan was probably an amazing thing to see in itself, my Dad was on a Aircraft carrier for the majority of his time in the Navy, he was on the USS Constellation and that was the last Aircraft carrier I was ever on, It was AMAZING, I remember it even tho I was young LOL Thanks for sharing these amazing pics!
