Cricut Circle Challenge #4

1.    Create a project for Christmas without using any green, red or pure white in the project. [Off whites like a beige can be used.]

Here's my interpretation of a non-Christmasy coloured card.  

Whoever is the recipient of this card and will probably ask: "a pink reindeer?????" ---- I'll tell them that "Susan made me do it!!!"  LOL

Made this card for a dear MB friend’s granddaughter.  J

I actually learned something, whilst making this card, and wanted to share.  Did you know that this cartridge has a silhouette feature?  

I’ve always known a silhouette to be an image of a person, an object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single color, usually black.  Like this:-

Well, when I cut out the silhouette image, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was just a black outline.  Like this:-

When placed on the blackout image, it was really easy to insert the layers ---- just like a puzzle.

Can’t wait to play w/ the other images on this cartridge, using the silhouette feature.  J

Made my very first paper “rosette”, as a flower on the patterned paper. The swirls resembled a stem, so plunked a rosette flower on top. J

I just love playing w/ my Imagine. I took the two sentiments from regular Cricut carts. and floodfilled them w/ a pattern from the Imagine cart, “Enjoy the Seasons”. All of the colours and patterns co-ordinate w/ the already-made designs, so it makes creating a card very easy-peasey.

The paper rosette was made using patterned paper. There are many tut’s on the Web, but here’s one that I really liked. It has very detailed instructions/pix.

Layout (first) of Bailey

Hello again. As mentioned in my previous post, I was approached by Theresa, theScrapbooking Queen, to be a guest designer on her blog. Well, actually it’s not really HER blog, it’s her li’l Yorkie, Penelope’s blog. (I just know Bailey would love to play w/ her.)

Anyway, Penelope’s blog is called “Princess Penelope” (see her blog button on right sidebar) and she has guest designers on every Friday. Here is my contribution:-

Just to let you know, this is my very first LO that I have ever done. And it only seemed apropos to make it of my sweet li’l Bailey.

For those of you who don’t already know, Bailey is a li’l rescue, sent to me from heaven by my dear, sweet Sasha, whom I lost 2 yrs. ago. I was in a really bad way when I lost my Sasha, so Bailey basically rescued me, instead of the other way ‘round.

When we first got Bailey, he took a shine to one of Sasha’s toys:- a li’l chick. Here he is cuddling the li’l chick. Isn’t that the cutest thing ever?? Hence, that's what I centered my LO around.

Bailey is telling the li’l chick:- “I paws-itively LOVE you”! And the li’l chick is returning the love by wearing a “Puppy Love” collar.

I used components from the “Paws-itively the best things” frame from the “Imagine More” cart. The other designs were from the Cricut carts., listed above.

Bailey’s name in paw prints is created with the “JLR Pawrty Hearty” font.

Card for Angel's Momma

Made this card for a friend whose li’l Chihuahua has a broken leg, because it was attacked by two larger dogs. The dogs’ owner didn’t even apologize or help my friend w/ her li’l pooch. The nerve of some people!!

Oooops, I stickled "hugs" after I took the picture. :-)

Because I don’t have the “Four Legged Friends” cartridge, I had to improvise. I utilized my Cricut Design Studio, got the design/layers for the li’l Chihuahua; copied/pasted them and then cut out the design/layers with, you ready for it??? ----- scissors. Yeppers! --- the cutter prior to the Cricut. :-) Even tho it wasn’t a REAL troublesome design, I still really missed my Cricut cutting it out for me. And now that cart. is definitely on my “wish list”. :-)

Li’l Angel has a white spot on her forehead that looks just like a heart, so I had to put a heart on the li’l pooch. She also has a pink cast, so that’s why her hind leg is pink. She must love pink because she has this beautiful pink bed to rest her li’l body; hence, the pink pillow.

Sympathy Card

I made the following card for my Sister-in-Law, who just lost her brother. (RIP, dear Brian)

This was made w/ a “twist”, as I utilized some Anaglypta wallpaper that I had. When I first looked at the border (below), I immediately saw a beautiful tail for a bird. If you click on the pic, it will enlarge and you can see the detail in the different style of embossing. I used another piece, which resembled feathers, for the body of the bird.

The sentiment is computer-generated.

Sympathy cards, to me, are supposed to be minimal, but tasteful --- w/ not too much glitz. When I spotted the Anaglypta paper, the whole card just too flight (no pun intended). I used Martha’s Punch around the Page for a background for the dove, in flight, adding a li’l envelope, depicting "sending a message".

I used Design Studio to be able to skew the frame, inside the card, to the size I needed. It was great to be able to stretch/size the swirl to fit the stretched image. This can also be achieved on the Cricut Gypsy. Wasn’t sure whether the sentiment (With Sympathy) from “Jasmine” would rip, because it was so tiny, but I think one of my angels was w/ me, whilst I was creating this card. Everything just fell into place, nicely.

Thanks for looking. Hopefully, you won’t have to make too many Sympathy cards but, just in case you do, you are more than welcome to scraplift mine. :-)
