My li'l corner of heaven.....

Thought I would "change it up" and share w/ you a li'l bit of my decor in my craft/sewing room. You can click on the pix to enlarge them.

This is as you enter my room. I have always loved owls, so had to have them in my room. Even had a "Mr. Blinkey" owl bank (instead of a piggy bank) when I was a kid. Mr. Blinkey would blink his eyes when coins were inserted. Cute!!!! Thing is.........I still have "Mr. Blinkey" stored away somewhere!! :-)

You may remember seeing a bit of Mary Engelbreit in my room. Here is her "Chair of Bowlies" wallhanging. Love the saying. Instead of: "Life is just a bowl of cherries" ----- hers is: "Life is just a chair of bowlies!" Hence, the chair w/ bowls on it. :-) Really suited me to a "T" when I was going thru some medical "hurdles" and would always bring a smile to my face. :-)

My sewing wall. I showcased my daughter's drawing before but, this time, you can see it more clearly when it is enlarged. She was a teenager when she drew/painted this for me. Touched my heart!!! :-)

I see that the pic above has some glare. Here's a better pic of her drawing....

Hope you all have a great week-end!! :-)

Blog candy......

Can you guess which FOUR different things I have added to my blog?

BTW --- there's actually FIVE different things, but you only have to guess FOUR! ;-)

The winner will win some "surprise" blog candy. The contest will be open until 10:00 p.m. PST, Wed. Mar. 24th.

If more than one person has guessed correctly, I will do the "picking", via Random.org.

Just leave your guess in the "comment" section and a way I can contact you. (your e-mail addy; or your blog name, etc.).

Good luck!

Maxine

Playing around w/ "Colour Splash" on PhotoBucket.......

Meet.......Maxine, who thinks she "rules the roost". Well, actually she does --- cuz this is what she actually says:-

* I could care less, but I'm workin' on it.
* I love my attitude problem.
* Don't worry, be crabby.

She arrived on my doorstep, via eBay, and I soooooo lucked out on her price. She was sold as not being able to talk, but DH did something to her innards and she talks up a storm. I wrote back to the seller and told her about it and she replied: "I guess Maxine likes living w/ you, rather than me." Tooooo funny/cute, eh?

Punch Storage

Hiya! A lot of crafters use the Bygel rail to store their punches. This can be purchased at IKEA. Click THIS for picture.

But, for those who don't have an IKEA near them (like me!) and don't want to order online, you can purchase something very similar at your local WallyWorld (Walmart). I got mine for less than $4.00 per rod, and it works like a charm.

Check it out.....

You'll notice that I have my singular punches facing backwards. I have mine on the back of a door and I find that they stay in the rod a li'l bit better than facing frontwards. (esp. w/ the movement of the door back/forth). If you were to have these rods on a wall, there would be no problem w/ having them face frontwards. It was just the added movement of the door swinging that may cause them to jump out of their postion(s). lol

Hope this helps someone! :-)

Tip for MS Ladybug Punch around the Page

Hiya! Hope everyone is enjoying their week-end. I went to a sewing/craft show yesterday and had an absolute ball. I've been to the sewing one a couple of times but, this year, they incorporated a craft showing. Vendors from all over Canada came to it. It was awesome.

I ended up w/ some goodies:- a GlueGlider Pro (which I've always wanted); some Core'dinations Paper (yahoo!); a Yo-Yo maker (yes, you heard right, LOL), and an owl Cuddlebug embossing folder. I was very pleased. :-)

So, I set off making my "Signature" Ladybug cards, using my GlueGlider Pro. I absolutely LOVE it. I do have an ATG but I think I like the GlueGlider better. I'm sure I'll prefer the ATG for other larger projects, tho.

Anyway, I was utilizing my MS Ladybug Punch around the Page punch and, instead of placing that on black paper, I just wanted to have black showing thru the ladybug dots so I came up w/ the idea of punching out some small black hearts and gluing them to the backside. Worked like a charm!! :-) Here's what I used and a pic of same:-

  • MS punch set

  • heart punch - 5/8" (came from a set but I'm sure they can be purchased separately)

  • Zig two-way glue

  • small scissors (to trim away the tips of the hearts)

Sorry, but I can't show you the finished card(s) cuz they're going out to some blogger friends! ;-)
